When the star Belhoom radiates deadly solar flares, a race of prehistoric creatures laying dormant, each within one of a thousand orbiting asteroids, becomes infected with a solar transmutation virus. One of them breaks free from its asteroid prison, and channels the energy from its brethren, to attack and destroy whole planets, on a mission to turn them into more asteroids.
