A species of 'living rocks' have achieved a utopian society in the form of huge asteroid belt. They telepathically communicate and observe the organic lifeforms on the planet they encircle. When a space monster flies close to the planet, they try to defend it, but the monster attacks and destroys many of them. One of the rock plummets to the surface and is found by a lonely environmentalist, who learns the secret of the asteroid belt.
