A soldier lives on a remote island, separated from the war. As the days go by, he finds himself haunted, then pursued by the creature Usae-Omba. The two seem to have some form of mental connection. When Dynrathe destroys the beast, the soldier realises he is still in the war, still in the trenches. He had never left. The 'island' was his own mental island, where he hid from the trauma of the war.
