A mother misses her many children, who have grown up and long since moved away, to various worlds across the galaxy. The creature Ovago telepathically offers to turn the mother into Cosmic Particles that can scatter through space with each particle taking the form of something that will stay with each child, so she can forever keep each one company. Just before she accepts the offer, a sinister force is discovered that is using Ovago to destroy the mother, so she cannot become the Great Planetary Mother, a powerful savior. The children all learn of this, and unite to save their mother.
