The planet Momon was overcome with deadly bacteria that ate all forms of physical matter. Only a small ship escaped, and the nomadic aliens turned themselves (and their ship) into light holograms to avoid ever been attacked by the bacteria again. However, they only had limited energy in their ship to to keep the hologram system operating, so they sent emissaries across the galaxy to find new light-energy. If a Momon ever is too weakened, it will revert to physical form and terrified of touching anything else.

Tactical Sniff: whiskers can 'sniff' to detect the best move to make during any situation
Subeam Attack: summon beams from the sun to strike down on targets
