An alien spacecraft crashed and was buried by a great storm. The occupants were dying until they were approached by an ancient spirit, who offered them new lives if they surrendered their minds to it. Geddelbrob absorbed their minds but could not process the extraterrestrial thought patterns. The creature took form as a giant, confused kaiju that became dangerous whenever it saw stars.
