On the planet Orspice, where the plantlife form the dominant species', animal-kind are used as resources to keep the plants' civilisation growing. The Great Trees are the most esteemed and respected beings on the planet. When they detect a troubling signal from deep space, every plant is ordered to produce a new type of gas that will repel the invader. The gas creates a shield around the planet, and stops the monster Pronokts from entering the atmosphere.
