A scientist brought along on an expedition into secret underground tunnels to discover why bad luck exists in the world, Berremana becomes the only survivor when a series of very bad accidents kills off the rest of the team. She struggles to continue and finds a strange crystal object that claims to be the source of all bad luck. When she tries to destroy it as revenge for her fallen comrades, the crystal counters by mutating her into a monster.
